Helpful Hints for Y2K

Are you concerned about being able to fill your prescriptions come January 1? The U.S. Food and Drug Administration says that Year 2000 should not affect your ability to receive your normal supply of medications and offers the following tips to help patients plan for the Year 2000 change.

  • Keep a list of your current prescriptions.

  • Refill your prescriptions before you run out.

  • Keep a personal health record that documents important medical information.

For general Y2K information, you can also call
1–888–USA–4–Y2K, and for questions on specific drugs, you can call 1–888–INFOFDA.

Diabetes Research Working Group Report Now Available Online

The NIDDK has posted the full report of the Diabetes Research Working Group, Conquering Diabetes: A Strategic Plan for the 21st Century (PDF, 992 KB), on the internet. The full report and summary were drafted this year by an independent group at the request of the U.S. Congress. The panel comprised scientists and lay experts, including representatives from the major diabetes voluntary organizations. After hearing from diabetes investigators, people with diabetes, and other members of the diabetes research community, the panel developed an overview of the major research opportunities and challenges in the field of diabetes. The background on the group and summary report are also at www.niddk.nih.gov/federal/dwg/dwgmain.htm on the internet.
