NIDDK Grantees Receive PECASE Awards

Four National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) grantees were among the 2009 and 2010 recipients of the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE), the highest honor bestowed by the U.S. Government to scientists and engineers beginning independent careers. The 2009 awards were given in late 2010, and the 2010 awards were announced in September 2011. The PECASE recipients were honored by President Barack Obama at a White House ceremony.
The NIDDK grantees who received the PECASE for 2009 were:
- Muneesh Tewari, M.D., Ph.D., Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center
- Martin Zanni, Ph.D., University of Wisconsin–Madison
The NIDDK grantees who received the PECASE for 2010 were:
- David T. Breault, M.D., Ph.D., Children’s Hospital Boston
- Jose C. Florez, M.D., Ph.D., Massachusetts General Hospital and the Broad Institute
